Illegal Immigration

The United States has many illegal immigrants, mostly because of its excessive options and opportunities to get paying (however low) jobs where no one asks any questions. Most of our illegal immigrants come from Mexico because of the over population and bad job chances in Mexico. They immigrate here in search of higher wages to help their families. The over population lowers the amount of jobs available for the people. According to the CIA more than 40% of people in Mexico live in poverty. Not to mention the state of the government is falling apart and becoming more and more corrupt.
Many illegal immigrants come over through the Rio Grande or by being smuggled through in cars, trucks, or boats. Some will also try to walk across the border at less guarded points. Others will enter the country legally and then overstay or violate their visas.

The United States has been trying to close the borders and stop illegal immigrants from coming across and "taking American jobs". I find this mentality maddening. Most illegal immigrants end up working in the worst jobs that pay the least. They take these jobs and don't complain because they need the money to support their families.

I think that we should make it easier for immigrants to come over legally. We should provide opportunities for them to get better paying jobs, obtain legal status, and learn what they need to know to keep up in our society. I think we should also set stricter regulations for employers who try to exploit illegal immigrants and stricter repercussions for those who do. Too many illegal immigrants are tricked into working in atrocious conditions for little to no pay, just because they thought that US would have better opportunities. Its sickening that a country with values like ours allows these to happen, just because we are too lazy to worry about people who are not citizens of our country.

The United States needs to review and change its policies on illegal immigrants and STOP treating them like it is their fault for being poor and needing a way to support their families.

I totally agree... That's pretty much what I was trying to say in my blog, but without all the ranting. =D

While I don't agree with everything you said there, I agree with most of it. Although, honestly, I think if we're REALLY trying to help people whoes lives are in a state of destruction we should help others. While many Mexicans have hard lives, if we're trying to help people shouldn't we be bringing in people from like Palestine or Darfur instead?

yea. I see what you mean. i dont think its about bringing people in. its about providing them with the resources necessary to make them legal if they want, and get stable jobs. But hell yea we should be helping people in the middle east and darfur.
and as soon as someone freaking realizes that we've been saying never again and its HAPPENING AGAIN!

Something sarah palin said that really pissed me off in the debate, was talking about how we have to assure the jews that another holocaust wont happen again. First of all, i am jewish so no one can say im being anitsemetic or something, but the jews are NOT in danger of another holocaust! Second, guess who freaking (i dont think we're allowed to swear) is! DARFUR!

Nice, informative post there.

I agree, America's turning down a good economic chance that both the immigrants and America could benefit from.

However, I'm a bit iffy on helping out with the middle east and Darfur, I think America should mind its own business as much as possible and leave Darfur up to organizations like the Red Cross. I mean, we have a lot of our own problems to sort through right now, trying to save everyone is a bit too much for America. I'm all for helping out with Darfur and stuff though, those people really do need help from a more powerful country, but it's not too practical at the moment to make any legal decisions about it. I don't know.
